Team Goshen Land – Baguio united Football lived up to the public’s expectationby ruling the men’s division of the 1st Mayor Mauricio Domogan Football Cup that culminated over the weekend to end the month – long action – packed weekends.
It was a remarkable performance for both Goshen Land and the Benguet State University Alumni but the former emerged triumphant at the end of the regulation 2 – 1.
All three goals were netted during the second half of the game, which continued despite the inclement weather.
BSU Varsity settled for third place in the same division.
Members of the fames Baguio Cinderella who now called their team Baguio Ladies T – Manx brought home the championship trophy of the ladies division by winning via penalty kick – out over their equally talented and younger BSU Ladies Team.
Baguio Ladies Solid took home the third place plaque.
Visiting Laoag A won the 16 under over MBL United, a team composed of street children Manila, while Baguio City National High School Football Team A was the second runner – up.
BCNHS Football Team is the king of the 12 under division and was trailed by Bonifacio A and la Trinidad Central School Football Team, which settled for first and second – runners up, respectively.
The much younger Goshen land boaters emerged victorious by winning the 10 under over its closest rival, Jose P. Laurel and Quezon A.
Team Brazil snared the 8 under championship trophy from rivals Bonifacio and Jose P. Laurel. Barangay Pinsao players, meanwhile won over Pinsao Hard 11 to bring home the title in the men’s division of the G – string category, one of the highlights of the vent.
Pinsao Hard 11, however, bounced back by winning the secondary division of the G – string category over Dagsian United and Quezon Hill – A.
It was Bonifacio A that ruled the g – string elementary division and it was trailed by Pinsao Hard 11 and Jose P. Laurel.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan who graced the closing ceremonies acknowledged being moved by the tenacity of the football players who showed the beauty of the game even on muddy grounds.
“Football can be your key to a successful career,” said Domogan, as he challenged them to excel in football with a hope that leading universities in Manila will offer them full scholarship in college.
The mayor thanked Goshen Land led by its top honcho, lawyer Alexander Bangsoy, and partners for organizing the event as he promised the city government will exert efforts to improve the lawn of the Melvin Jones ground.
